What are Octagon Exhaust Tips?

Octagon exhaust tips are exhaust tips in the shape of an octagon. They were created to add a unique aesthetic to any gas or diesel truck. 

Octagon Exhaust Tips are measured from flat to flat (Ri in the diagram below). This means an octagon exhaust tip will be slightly larger than the same size round exhaust tip. For example, an 8” octagon tip will measure 8” from flat to flat (Ri) and 8.66” from corner to corner (Rc). This is known as an inscribed octagon. The incircle is an example of a round exhaust tip.

I’m building a truck, what does geometry have to do with it?

This matters because an octagon exhaust tip may be bigger than the same size tip you currently have. An inch is a big deal, wink wink. It could be the difference between a tip sized just right for your build or an obnoxiously large tip. 

A custom exhaust tip should complete your build.

If you are happy with the size of your current tip, then go with the same size octagon exhaust tip.

If you are worried that the same size would be too big, then go one size down.

If you want to go big or go home, go up a size.
